I’m Oscar Rankins, a 18-year-old who recently became the youngest ever Cairns Ironman competitor.

 

My journey has already pushed me through 5 marathons an ultra marathon and Cairns Ironman, teaching me firsthand that real progress isn’t flashy or easy, it’s built in the quiet, uncomfortable moments where most people quit.

 

That’s what “embracing the slog” means to me: showing up when it’s hard, staying consistent when motivation fades, and finding purpose in the grind itself.

 

I started Embrace The Slog whilst in school (year 12) to represent that a bulletproof mindset, isn't just for athletes, but for anyone chasing something bigger than themselves.
